Corve Street has been officially launched as an ‘Antiques and Interiors Quarter’ and now has it’s own ‘Corve Street Quarter and Beyond town trail map’, flag and logo to celebrate the unsurpassed and eclectic collection of antique dealers, craft makers and purveyors of home and garden products that has gathered along the street. Recognition of the area brings people into the town on a regular basis and also encourages them to walk around the town with the use of the Corve Street Quarter map and linger long enough to wander down Corve Street and discover the many shops they may have missed on a short visit.
Corve Street is a beautiful Georgian Street full of interesting and unique shops, stocking the very best contemporary cutting edge crafts, period French Brocante, original artwork and early English antiques.
The Medieval market town of Ludlow is already internationally renowned for it’s gastronomic appeal, playing host to the renowned ‘Ludlow Marches Food and Drink Festival’, www.foodfestival.co.uk, which attracts over 17,000 visitors. Hibiscus, holder of two Michelin Stars and awarded Restaurant of the Year 2005 can also be found in Corve Street. Recently Ludlow has become the very first British town to be awarded the ‘Cittaslow’ standard in recognition of its atmospheric quality and pace of life so adored by the Italians and French. Ludlow boasts a fine range of Medieval and Georgian architecture together with an exciting mix of individual boutiques and traditional family run shops.
The charming market town of Ludlow in Shropshire, is to host a regular Saturday and two-day weekend events incorporating Flea Market and Antique Brocante and other local attractions within the town. The event are held in the heart of the town at the Harley Centre, which is located off the historic market square and is part of Ludlow College. The venue is light and airy with all rooms being on the ground floor combined with a generous refreshments area and a courtyard. The Flea Market and Antique Brocante will run at regular intervals during the year between January and December.
The event has been organised by the energetic Sue Humphries, also known as the ‘Zani Lady’ whose shop at the bottom of Corve Street has played a major role in the growing of Ludlow’s antique and interiors business area, known as ‘The Corve Street Quarter’. The Brocante aims to perfectly reflect the mix of shops that can be found in Corve Street where you can find almost everything you need to refurbish, restore or even rebuild your home.
Original artwork by Libby Lord, Edward Bell and Humphrey Hallward, plus limited edition prints by Sue McCartney-Snape can be found alongside natural clay based paints and sheepwool insulation. Zani Lady of Corve Street hosts nine dealers, displaying on three floors. Stocking French country furniture, antique mirrors, lighting, Hungarian linens, architectural pieces, together with retro kitchen ware, loose linen covered chairs, vintage cushions, painted garden benches and French garden furniture ![]()
